Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex

[Dive Active] Glossary: cyberbrain

The cyberbrain is a cybernetic implant that supplements the organic brain and its functions. As technology has progressed, the symbiosis that existed between organic and cyberbrain has diminished to the point that organic brain matter is only retained for its supposed role of containing an individual's ghost.

The cyberbrain is composed of a casing that encloses the cyberbrain's functioning hardware and remaining organic brain matter. From this casing extends a cybernetic spinal cord that connects with the individual's organic spinal cord. The external I/O interface connects to the cybernetic spinal cord.

The cyberbrain is required for control and usage of other cybernetic implants. It allows an individual to directly interface with other cyberbrains, access the network that links all cyberbrains, and store stimuli as data that may be retrieved and shared.
